Personal Statement

As a doctor, I have devoted my career to helping others, saving lives, and making people feel better. I listen to patients, and I try to explain health conditions and treatments well. My clinical focus has been in classical hematology, including clotting, bleeding, iron deficiency, and abnormal blood counts.

As a public health advocate, I have devoted my career to tackling large challenges in hematology. Iron deficiency in women, one of the biggest barriers to gender equality, has been my top priority. To help address iron deficiency – a problem that one third of all women experience – I have developed iron infusion programs throughout the country.
